  • At Phoenix Integrative Health, we bring together a range of health professionals (clinical psychologists, breathwork facilitators, psychiatrists) and therapeutic modalities, like breathwork, psychological interventions, and emerging therapies for treatment-resistant depression and PTSD. In combining a variety of health professionals and treatment modalities, we offer complementary approaches that support whole-person health and healing.

  • We are a team of clinical psychologists, breathwork facilitators, and psychiatrists.

    Dr Lucas, the principal clinical psychologist, provides psychological assessment and treatment for a range of mental health conditions, including anxiety disorders (e.g., social anxiety, generalised anxiety), mood disorders, PTSD and trauma related conditions, OCD, ADHD and ASD (including ADHD and ASD assessments), addiction and substance abuse, personality disorders, eating disorders (bulimia and binge eating), and grief and loss.

    Treatments are evidence-based and collaboratively chosen. They can include ACT, CBT, DBT, EMDR and a variety of others, depending on what best fits your needs.

    Sara, our breathwork facilitator, provides facilitated breath re-patterning breathwork and integration.

  • A clinical psychologist assesses and treats emotional, behavioural, and mental health conditions using evidence-based therapies and trauma-informed approaches. A clinical psychologist can help with a variety of presentations (e.g., anxiety, depression, trauma, OCD, substance abuse, ADHD, and complex presentations. These sessions can occur in-person at our central Gold Coast clinic in Bundall or via telehealth.

  • Breathwork is a guided, intentional breathing practice that supports nervous system regulation, emotional processing, and somatic release. Sessions combine breathing, grounding, and integration to help reduce stress, manage trauma related symptoms, and increase bodily awareness.

  • Dr Lucas is an experienced clinical psychologist who treats a range of conditions, including but not limited to:

    • Anxiety disorders (GAD, social anxiety, panic disorder)

    • Mood disorders (depression, bipolar affective disorder)

    • PTSD and trauma-related conditions

    • ADHD and ASD (assessment, diagnosis, and treatment - including collaborative assessments with psychiatrists and GPs)

    Treatments offered are integrative, evidence-based, and collaborative:

  • FBR is a relational, body-based breathwork technique that supports the release and integration of tension held in the body.

    Through conscious, connected breathing and attuned touch, we use the breath as a bridge between the conscious and unconscious. This process invites the body to unwind old survival patterns and return to its natural rhythm of safety, resilience, and aliveness.

    These can be delivered in group or individual sessions. At Phoenix, Sara will offer 1-to-1 sessions to guide you through a deeply personalised experience of nervous system rewiring and somatic integration.

  • Yes, we offer in-person sessions with Dr Lucas (clinical psychologist) and with Sara (breathwork facilitator) in our Bundall clinic.

    Dr Lucas offers secure telehealth sessions for individuals across Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, and the rest of Australia. Telehealth is suitable for many presentations and can be combined with face-to-face sessions.

  • You do not need a GP referral to book with a clinical psychologist, but a GP referral and Mental Health Care Plan enables you to claim Medicare rebates. This reduces your out of pocket cost.

    For breathwork, referrals are usually direct bookings, though some individuals are referred by clinicians for adjunctive care.

    Dr Lucas and Sara commonly work together with both of their approaches complimenting each other.

  • The first session focuses on assessment primarily: your history, current concerns, goals, and a collaborative plan for therapy. We explain therapy options and practice steps so you leave with a clear next step.

  • Yes and this is often recommended. Breathwork can complement psychological therapy by supporting nervous system regulation and embodiment, and many individuals benefit from an integrated approach. We coordinate care between breathwork facilitators and clinical psychologists (with your consent) and can offer novel treatments, like breathwork-assisted therapy.

  • No prior experience is required. Beginners are welcome and guided through this process step-by-step. Sara will explain the process, the rationale for FBR, and provide a brief demonstration. Integration support is provided after the session, with the option for ongoing support.

  • We aim to offer timely appointments and will make efforts to offer an urgent appointment if requested or clinically necessary.
